LATEST  INFO

Well the 2008 Roddy Read Songwriting Awards is approaching it's conclusion. We had many fine entries and the first round judging
panel has selected the finalists who will be performing at the Roddy Read finals concert at Derby Hill, Saturday, 1 November 2008, 2:00 PM.

We are also delighted to announce that Muso’s Stuff is generously providing the fantastic prize - a Washburn Rarewood Guitar.

Don't forget, registration for the Minstrel Awards takes place on Saturday November 1, first thing in the morning at the registration
area. I'll be there at 8.30AM to register entrants. If you're having trouble spotting me, I'll be the short person with the bleary eyes
and the possibly non-matching socks...

The event itself is divided into two sessions:
ROUND ONE Derby Hill Sunday, 2 November 2008 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
ROUND TWO Derby Hill Sunday, 2 November 2008 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Once again, David Miller and his heroic team of helpers will be at the helm of the Minstrel Awards event.

Look forward to getting up to Maldon for a wonderful festival and hope to see you at the Roddy Read Finals concert.

Wendy

Cheers for now

LAST YEAR . . .

MFF 2007 Song Writing Competitions:

The 15th Roddy Read Memorial Songwriting Award,
&
The 3rd Maldon Minstrel Award for Singer/Songwriters

Once more the Maldon Folk Festival has come and gone leaving thousands of happy folkies with two in particular going home smiling.

As usual a very high standard was maintained by the finalists and all performers should be proud to have been selected.

The Maldon Minstrel Award was won by Ewan Cloonan from Healesville. The crowd called out for more following his performance on the main stage at the presentation of his trophy and voucher for a recording session at Bald Hill Studios in Carisbrook,.

This was the fifteenth running of the Roddy Read, the third year for the Minstrel Award and also the last year that founders Phil and Elaine Young will be involved in the organisation.

The contests WILL however continue with the baton having been passed to a most capable coodinator for coming years.

Watch this space in 2008 for details and updates to terms and conditions.
